Zoom, Zoom, Back to the Future

We took the family to the Heritage Plantation in Sandwich, MA, on Cape Cod. They have a great antique car exhibit and this year and it features many old "concept cars." They were ideas from the car designers of their time, such as Harley J. Earl, who started tail fins and the Chevrolet Corvette. But the cars never went into production.

Somebody asked if I had a favorite concept car over the years. I don't have a specific one, but I always remembered that Popular Science magazine told the nation around 1956 that we'd all have cars that could fly in the 1980s. Thank goodness that never happened. Could you imagine teens going for their learner's permit in a flying car? What about driver education classes? Who would teach those? Let's be grateful that not all concepts became production models. Whew!
